New work in progress INVISIBLE SPACES
 |
“INVISIBLE SPACES” by MAYTE VAOS
When i met artist Amanda Steggell , I was already working with the concept of made
visible the invisible, she gave me a very useful devise, an electromagnetic machine that
allowed me to “connect” with the invisible world.
The human eye can see only a small part of everything that exists. From deep inside our
bodies to deep in outerspace, there are hidden worlds that are too tiny, too far away, too
fast, or too strange for us to see. Since the discovery of these mysterious places and
objects, scientists have designed and built machines to do what the eye cannot…to
capture and reveal the invisible wonders of our universe.
In this solo work, I transform myself in a kind of sensory machine to convert this hidden
worlds in real images and sounds, with the help of an electromagnetic devise and lot of
imagination as well as memory,I want to make visible the invisible, I want to know how
can I relate to and how I change the space and time I am inhabiting.
I record the soundlandscapes of different places, transforming the sounds in lines of forces
that form body shapes and atmospheres , filtering them with my memories, It creates a
vision that is intimate and alien at the same time.
