Born in 1965 , Cordoba (Spain)
Mayte Vaos began his studies in 1985 of theatre Grotowsky laboratory Physical theatre, Contemporary and Modern Dance in Spain and Europe.
In 1992 meets Butoh dance and since then studies and collaborates as much in Japan as in Europe with the prestigious and recognised Japanese teachers of Butoh: KO Murobushi, Carlotta Ikeda, Katsura Kan, Masaki Iwana,Tadashi Endo, Atsushi Takenouchi,Tetsuro Fukuhara, Minako Seki, Yumiko Yoshioka, etc.
Mayte Vaos, residing in the last years in Japan, London and Spain,Berlin, nowadays in Sweden, has imparted courses of Butoh in Japan, Great Britain and Spain.
Their last works include dance collaborations with the famous dancer Katsura Kan in the Pradillo theatre of Madrid , International dance festival in Seville and L´Antic Theatre of Barcelona.
Solo works: "Body Food: Narcissus", " Escapa(ra)te", "La vuelta al Paraiso o the last Performance", performed in Asia and Europe.
Video projects in collaboration with visual artists as Zena Holloway, Apatches and Xavier Gabin.
At the moment her interest resides in the experimental work based on the Butoh dance, projected image and site-specific performances which takes her to collaborate with artists of different disciplines and cultures.
Other works:
- Dada Group component (spectacles of physical theatre in the network of theatres of the community of Madrid)
- Founder, director and performer of the group of Dance-theatre: "Impossible Theatre of the form" with who won the first prize of the festival of alternative theatre in Madrid, and the special prize in the festival Fringe of Edinburg in 1993.
- Dancer and actress in dance groups and street theatre like "Aracaladanza" and "Dragoon"
- Choreographer, Director and performer of commercial spectacles and Great Illusions in thematic parks, Cruise ships and Theatres. (Japan, Europe and U.S.A.)
- Professor of yoga and creative dance for children in London and Spain.
